Exploring the Eclectic Gallery of Trash Art by Gray d'Éon

I was tearing the cellophane off of a few different canvases one day, and made a realization when throwing the cellophane out. My art has an effect on the environment whether I like it or not. My canvas, paint, brushes, and other materials are all mass-produced and travel many miles to get to me. So I angrily slapped the cellophane onto my canvas and burnt it. It is in that moment of anger that I discovered a new way of creating through destruction. I started saving and collecting all of my non-biodegradable trash so I could have my burning cathartic release knowing that instead of ending up in a landfill my trash would be a work of art. Every painting I make holds a piece of me through my trash. It holds a moment in time, something I used and then gave a new life. Because at the end of the day, one person's trash, is this girl's treasure.
